Nov 27, 2025 - FASSelangor FC secured a point in their fifth Group G match of the ACLTWO 2025/26 campaign after holding Bangkok United FC to a 1-1 draw at the Pathum Thani Stadium yesterday.
The match began with the home side creating several dangerous chances, but both teams went into the break without a goal. Bangkok United broke the deadlock in the 51st minute through Phumichantuk. The Red Giants remained disciplined in both defence and attack throughout the game, and their persistence finally paid off in the 90+4th minute. A move involving two young players, Muhammad Khalil and Izwan Yuslan, set up Chrigor Moraes to slot home the equaliser, earning Selangor FC a valuable point.
Selangor FC head coach, Christophe Gamel, expressed his pride in the players’ fighting spirit despite the team no longer being in contention to progress to the next round.
“It’s a positive result for the team. Congratulations to the players for showing a mentality that refuses to give up, which led to us scoring the equaliser. I’m very pleased with the spirit they displayed. Of course, we’re disappointed not to continue our journey in this competition, and there are clearly areas we need to improve. At the same time, I would like to apologise to the fans for not being able to advance further in ACLTWO. We gave everything we had. I also gave opportunities to several young players today, and I hope the spirit they showed will help them in future matches,” he said.
Up next, Selangor FC will face Sabah FC in the second leg of the FA Cup Semi-Final at the MBPJ Stadium, Kelana Jaya at 9pm. This match will be played behind closed doors after the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) rejected the appeal against the earlier sanction.
The Red Giants management would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the supporters who were present at the Pathum Thani Stadium to cheer on the team. Your support means a great deal to us.
We are also extremely proud of the attitude shown by the players in yesterday’s match. Let’s carry this momentum into the next game!
Demi Kebanggaan!
